You know how we all become creatures of habit? Well as I write this, I would normally be trying to reconcile our auction and answering everyone’s “how did we do?” questions. As you know, the Board made a decision to change the usual October date to April 9th for many reasons. This is a good idea, but it does require some adjustments particularly around the issue of cash flow. We usually see a large infusion of funds from the auction which will not materialize in this time frame. However, bills, salaries and other expenses do not stop just because we changed our schedule. It does make life that much more stressful, but we are in good shape.

As you know, Michelle has moved with her two youngest children back to Sand Point, Alaska. She was a great employee and will be missed. I feel that we have hired a wonderful new Bookkeeper, Lina Brattain, who has stepped right in. Please come by and meet her when you have the chance.

We just completed a quick and very successful fundraising drive to raise over $2,200 for 15 new round tables. It was truly amazing and full of good spirit. Thanks to all of you who participated and to Candace who set up a Go Fund Me campaign online.

Remember, winter and cold weather are approaching.

It is important to stay warm. If you have a question as to whether we are open or not due to weather, please follow the reports from the Monroe School District. Even if we are open, that does not mean you have to be here if you are worried about conditions.

A few closures and special events to tell you about. We will be closed for Veteran’s Day on Wednesday, November 11th. Please thank a vet for  their service. We will be closed after lunch on November 25th and then Thursday and Friday the 26th and 27th. There will be a free Thanksgiving lunch served here on Thursday the 26th from 12 to 2. We will also be closed after lunch on December 23rd and then the 24th and 25th too.

A festive Thanksgiving lunch on November 24th and Holiday lunch on December 18th. Our wish: All the best to you for the New Year and Happy Holidays to you all.
