Happy Spring! What a great time of year this is, especially here at the East County Senior Center. We seem to come alive with special events and programs now. First up, St Patrick’s Day lunch on March 17th. Wear some green and party.

Special Easter Bingo Friday night April 3rd. This is a great opportunity to win Easter meal items! Volunteer Appreciation Week is April 13-17th. There is no way we can totally express to you all how thankful we are for your help. We could not keep the doors open here if not for you. As a token of thanks, we will be giving each of our volunteers a choice of a free Pancake breakfast or reductions at Bingo or the Thrift Store. We will also be holding a thank you lunch on April 17th. Stay tuned for details.

Our first dance of the year, the “Spring Fling” will be Saturday April 25th. Always a fun time! Another special event that is happening in Seattle is around 2,000 years in the making. We will be visiting the Pompeii exhibit. Demand will be strong; make sure you register early. Look in the trips section of this newsletter for more details on this and also Seniors on the Beach, May 12-15th.

On May 8th, we will be holding a Mother’s Day luncheon followed by a big day on May 9th. Spring Bazaar, Mother’s Day Plant Sale and GIANT Bake Sale all happening together.

I have been writing this front page for 8 1/2 years now and I often wonder whether people actually read what I write in this column. I am going to conduct a small experiment. I will give you $1 if you tell me you read this column to the end and can recite the magic word “buck.” First 10 people only.
